This Privacy Policy explains how TorrentCheap(“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and service (the “Service”), operated from Sri Lanka. By using the Service you agree to this Policy. Read it together with our Terms & Conditions and DMCA Policy.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: your name and email when you sign up. Passwords are stored only as a salted hash.
  • If you sign in with Google: your basic Google profile (name, email, account identifier). We never receive your Google password.
  • Communications: messages you send us (e.g. support email).

Information about how you use the Service

  • Content you add: the magnet links and .torrent files you submit, and the files we fetch or store on your behalf.
  • Technical & usage data: IP address, browser/device type, features used, timestamps, and server logs - to operate, secure, and improve the Service.

Cookies and local storage

  • Session cookies keep you signed in.
  • Encrypted local storage holds your session tokens and basic profile so the app works smoothly. We don't use cookies to build advertising profiles.

3. Third-party services we rely on

We share the minimum data needed with providers that help us run the Service:

  • Google - “Sign in with Google” and reCAPTCHA (bot/abuse protection). Subject to Google's own policies.
  • Email delivery - verification, password, and account emails.
  • Hosting / content-delivery infrastructure - the servers and edge network that store and deliver your files.

These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes, except as described in their own policies (e.g. Google). We do not sell or rent your personal data.

4. How we use your information

  • To create and manage your account and keep you signed in.
  • To provide the core Service - fetch, store, stream, and let you download your files.
  • To secure the Service, prevent abuse, enforce our Terms, and respond to copyright and legal notices.
  • To communicate with you about your account and important changes, and to improve the Service.

5. Your files and content

We do not routinely monitor the content of your files. However, we may access, scan, restrict, or remove content where necessary to operate the Service, comply with the law, respond to valid copyright notices, or detect prohibited content - this includes automated safeguards such as malware scanning. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and other illegal content: we remove it and report it to the relevant authorities as required by law.

6. How long we keep information

  • Account data: while your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward for legal and security purposes.
  • Files: per your plan's retention and until you delete them or close your account.
  • Logs: for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures - hashed passwords, encrypted transport (HTTPS), httpOnly session cookies, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Review and update your account details in settings.
  • Request deletion of your account and data by emailing [email protected].
  • Clear cookies/local storage in your browser (this signs you out and may affect functionality).

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children. You must meet the minimum age stated in our Terms. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age; contact us if you believe a child has provided us information.

10. International users

The Service is operated from Sri Lanka and uses infrastructure that may be located in other countries. By using the Service you understand your information may be processed outside your own country.

We may update this Policy from time to time. We'll post the updated version here and change the “Last updated” date; significant changes may be communicated by email or in-app. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
